Rohit Kumar was working for a global publishing company when he saw a void in the market for building skills in the way people learn today. At the time, he was responsible for a large line of scientific texts including the famous 1,500-page tome, “Grey’s Anatomy.”
Rohit founded ChapterApps on the premise that in today’s fast-paced workplace, people learn through small nuggets in many forms – video, instructor-led, peer coaching, role-playing, and the written word. He also saw that the mobile apps were becoming key enterprise tools, especially in developing countries with young workforces and IT cost constraints. As a former product executive for Oracle, he started ChapterApps in Silicon Valley with the backing of Youweb.
As our team grew and we listened to more clients, a common pattern was that companies needed a hub for their own training content, where people could create their own learning paths, receive recommendations on what to learn next, and share with each other – and L&D could keep track of who was learning what and how it affected business and career success.
Today, over a million people have been trained through company apps built on the Chapter platform, and over 100,000 use those apps every month. Today, as we continue growing, clients in numerous industries have taken these apps to over a dozen countries for use by their own employees and their business partners.
